Gem Webb
“A thirst for knowledge and a positive attitude”

Hi, I’m Jason Gem Webb. My friends and family call me by my middle name, “Gem,” so you can too if we’re gonna get to know each other.
I refer to myself as a digital creative who has a passion for manifesting, teaching and reaching for a deeper understanding of this evolving internet universe.
In the digital arena, I’ve had a very extensive journey – almost like going to the center of the earth. I began in the web design field as a team creative lead, then upgraded my skillset in Special Effects Compositing for film and T.v. to recently coming full circle back to web. I currently enable and manage many regional Social Media brands and help define their internet marketing strategies and tactics.
One of the hardest transitions in my career occurred when I chose to pursue Visual Effects for Film and Broadcast and work my way up the ladder to being a lead Video Compositor. I had gotten to a very high level doing web design and to then go back down to the “just out of school stage,” was a very humbling lesson. After going back to school, I landed my first break at Cuppa Coffee Animation Studios in the video compositing department. There, I worked on such productions as the hit Disney children’s show, Jo-Jo’s Circus, Little People, The Wrong Coast (MTv), Captain Mac, and Life’s a Zoo. Continuing on to film projects, I worked at IMAX supervising teams of up to 25 on such notable films as Harry Potter 5, Superman Returns, and the 3d box office hit, Beowulf. The film industry trained me well to meet tight time lines. I have to admit that working for IMAX was one of the best experiences. They were a bunch of really nice people whom got what it was like to work with others. They showed respect to fellow co-workers which, sometimes in the digital industry, there tends to be a lack of. There are a lot of ego’s -nuff said-.
Today, I use my broad knowledge of web, print, online marketing, social media marketing, video, and corporate branding to guide companies with a need for a corporate identity or online presence into leading positions in their industry.

Melissa Ruth – Client Support & Project Manager

Melissa’s creative background is wonderfully diverse in mediums, a true “multi-media” artist! She graduated from Sheridan College’s world renowned Classical (drawn) Animation program and moved on to animating in Stop-Motion (think “Claymation”) at Toronto’s Cuppa Coffee Animation studio. She spent three years there on Disney’s popular children’s TV show, JoJo’s Circus, along with Mattel’s Little People. Also a Set and Prop builder, Melissa worked in such mediums as wood, metal, plastic, foam, silicone, clay, and whatever else it took to create the necessary “wild and wonderful” props for film or television. Her molding and casting skills have created everything from “dancing silicone bacon” and the “perfect” banana to decorative architectural features for homes!
Her work in the television and film industry also prompted her to learn Special Effects Makeup, along with additional training and experience in creating prosthetic appliances as well. She has worked as Head Makeup and Special Effects Artist on numerous productions, including the new “Indie” webseries (TV online), Team Epic (http://www.teamepic.tv), where her talents were put to work creating superheros of all extremes. Adding to her cinematic and theatrical background, Melissa also worked for Mirvish Productions’ Wardrobe Department, sewing costumes for the Toronto and Los Angeles productions of mega-hits, The Lion King and Mama Mia.
Melissa’s interest in different mediums also led her to enter the digital realm, learning to use high-end digital special-effects and editing programs to create solutions for those projects too dangerous, expensive, or impractical to create in physical form.
Gemini Films was created when she teamed up with Gem (not the reason of the name of the company, but more due to Gemini Awards being a strong symbol of achievement in Television) in 2006.
